TRAVEL LIFE: TULUM
3 LIFE LESSONS FROM TULUM. > spon·ta·ne·ous /spänˈtānēəs/ taking a risk, living life to the fullest, no plans, "don't think just do". **1. Spontaneity is the best medicine for maintaining one’s youth.** I planned this trip to Tulum two weeks before we left as a surprise for my friends 30th birthday. She had no idea my fiancé and I were coming and the thrill of sneaking off to Mexico to surprise her was a fantastic dose of adrenaline. I had 100 different ways I wanted to surprise her but once I got there I was too excited and ended up climbing through the restaurant window to hand her a bucket of beer. **2. Letting go of your daily agenda can be hard.** LOL . . . not when you are in Tulum! It took us 5 min to drop our bags and hit the beach. Tulum has enough people so you won’t feel isolated but it’s pace is more like a casual bike ride so you never feel rushed or overrun by excited tourism. For many it is difficult to disconnect from work during a vacation. Try and only check your phone or email once a day for any urgent messages. Your best bet is to simply set your auto responder letting everyone know the day you will be back. The world will continue to spin without you! **3. Always choose travel, even when the pile of bills says otherwise.** You may regret the pair of high heels you bought to match the dress you never wore. But you will never regret the trips you have taken, the freshly caught fish you ate for lunch, the mariachi band you took tequila shots with and of course the day you spent bodysurfing in Racysuits!
