Events: Bernard Cup, Squaw Valley
Fresh snow, blue skies, and the top US Far West Masters Skiers make for a fantastic weekend! The Bernard Cup hosts age divisions ranging from post-college to 80 + years all racing on the same mountain. Starting in 1985 Robert Bernard, grandfather to Racysuits founder Marina Barnes, started a race that would allow all ages to compete together fairly. The overall weekend title for the Bernard Cup goes to the fastest man and women based on Bob’s age-handicapping formula.
The 2016 Bernard Cup winners are Carol Levine (W09) and Blair Wallace (M09)

This year Blair Wallace and Carol Levine will have their names engraved on the Bernard Cup trophies. The trophies were donated by Robert ‘Bob’ Bernard in 1985 and have since been engraved with an impressive list of professional skiers of all ages including Otto Tschudi who raced in the 1968 and 1972 Winter Olympics and Tim Itin, member of the US Ski Team from 1979-1980.

These are the people who keep America’s ski racing tradition alive: coaching junior programs, driving to weekend regional series races, dressing up for ski-ball fundraisers, loving skiing beyond the common passion. - Peter Shelton, Ski Magazine

The Far West Masters community is also giving back to young racers through a Scholarship Program. Founded by Joe Lausmann and Robert Bernard in 1992 the program has many contributors generating over $750,000 in scholarship funds that have been awarded to junior racers over the past 24 years. Racysuits is proud to have participated in this year’s Bernard Cup Raffle by donating a custom ski suit to the raffle winner!

Big thanks to the Far West Masters community for welcoming the Bernard Family for the weekend!
